A generative K-pop seaweed idol system from the future-past Developed from Birthday Garden, an immersive installation art series by Yaloo, miyeok-core v1.0 is a customizable avatar model that invites participants to co-create “seaweed guardian fairies” — mythic figures embodying intergenerational memory, ritual, and pop choreography. Using a rigged base avatar designed by the artist, collaborators design hairstyles, garments, and accessories, and contribute choreographies that draw from both K-pop and familial movement vocabularies. The resulting avatars can be rendered into the installation or deployed as site-specific interventions. Set within a speculative archaeological landscape, miyeok-core explores the circulation of cultural signifiers across generations and borders. It reframes Korean vernaculars—both traditional and globalized—into new mythologies of identity, performance, and digital folklore.
